Inspired by the motto “Adopt Don’t Shop”, Urbanpaws supports pet adoption and rehoming across South Africa and will lend a hand to the WOOF Project to assist homeless pups to find a loving family. While there are many hardworking shelters in and around South African cities, there is still not enough emphasis on dog adoption as the go-to process for families who wish to add a pet to the family.
Encouraging dog adoption through an innovative pop-up concept
As of March 2018, Urbanpaws will team up with Oscars Arc and their brainchild - WOOF Project - a dynamic ‘pop-up’ dog adoption initiative that aims to accelerate dog adoption through innovative design, creative marketing, and providing a positive dog adoption experience. WOOF Project brings dogs to the people! The pop-up concept sees a WOOF Project container moving to different and convenient locations around Cape Town to provide shelter dogs with the exposure to potential pet owners. All the dogs originate from existing shelters, are happy, 'homeable', sterilized and vaccinated.
Where to find them
All dogs of Woof Project became famous overnight as their photos are posted on social media for potential families to view. You can then find the custom built, dog-friendly container at places like the V&A Waterfront, Sea Point Promenade, De Waal Park, Constantia Village, Kalk Bay and Tygervalley. The amazing and generous volunteers will introduce people to the dogs and help find loving connections. Home checks are done to ensure the best homes are chosen for the dogs and the pet adoption process is complete within a few days. In terms of payment, WOOF Project offers a 'Name your price' dog adoption fee and with a happy new furbaby in tow.
